PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
December 7, 2011
1. CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL, AND AGENDA APPROVAL:
Ryan Simonscalled the meeting to order at 1:15 pm. Other members present: Barb Militello, Ed Brien, John Olson, Mike Petkoff, Dennis Purgatorio, and Tom Thiele. Simons declared a quorum present for doing business. Motion by Militello and seconded by Purgatorio to approve the agenda. All ayes, motion carried 7-0.
2. APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 2, 2011 MINUTES:
Motion by Thiele and seconded by Brien to approve the minutes. All ayes, motion carried 7-0.
3. COMMUNICATIONS:
A letter of appreciation for Finch Rd. patching/repair from Gary Fox was reviewed. An accident causing damage to a ditch line was also discussed.
4. COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS OF CITIZENS PRESENT REGARDING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA:
None
5. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Private Road Maintenance Update:
Responses to the voluntary private road transfer letters mailed to property owners along Manor, Finch, Meadowlark, and Pleasant were reviewed and discussed. Motion by Simons and seconded by Militello to request Baxter & Woodman provide cost estimate information for a minimum public road improvement standard. All ayes, motion carried 7-0. Another follow-up letter will be sent once the cost estimates are known to better inform those residents what their assessment costs may be.
B. South Shore Dr. Improvement Project progress update and final completion items:
The deficiency list of items yet to be completed was reviewed. A sufficient final payment amount will be retained so that B.R. Amon has incentive to return in the Spring and complete the work.
C. Equipment Replacement Schedule Update:
The 1991International Dump Truck has a cracked frame and will need to be taken out of service and replaced.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Town Foreman’s Report: Mike Petkoffupdated the committee with his monthly
report.
B. Town Mechanic’s Report: Tom Thiele updated the committee with his monthly report.
C. Approval of monthly bills for payment: Motion by Purgatorio and seconded by Simons to approve the submitted bills for payment. Motion carried 7-0.
7. COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS OF CITIZENS PRESENT:
Brien asked about possible increases to the snowplowing rates
8. ADJOURNMENT :
Motion by Brien, and seconded by Purgatorio to adjourn at 2:30 pm. All ayes, motion carried 7-0.
