PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
 MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 3, 2008


1.	CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:
Wayne Polzin called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm.  Present: Barb
Militello, Dennis Purgatorio, Ed Brien, Mike Petkoff, John Olson, and
Tom Thiele.  Wayne Polzin declared a quorum present for doing
business.  Also present was Rodney Anliker, Tim Fitzsimmons
(Engineered Buildings), Mark Kolczaski and Mike Dufern (Baxter &
Woodman). 

2.	APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 12, 2008 MINUTES: 
Motion by Thiele, and seconded by Brien to approve the minutes.  All
ayes, motion carried 7-0.  

3.	COMMUNICATIONS:
Petkoff received a request by Assembly Park for salt/sand for their
private road subdivision.  The Committee discussed how to determine
the timing and amount of charges.  The cost for additional amounts
exceeding the initial allotment of salt/sand will be substantially
higher than the amount paid for the current supply.  Consensus was
reached to wait until later in the season to determine if the Town
will need to replenish its supply before determining the charge.

4.	COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS:
None   
	
5.	OLD BUSINESS:
None. 
    
6.	NEW BUSINESS:
A.	Del-Mar Subdivision Concerns—Dale Bernsteen:  Rod Anliker appeared
before the committee to distribute and discuss a Request for Action
Related to Storm Water Control Systems within the Delmar Improvement
Association.  The Delmar Improvement Association is requesting an
engineering study to help alleviate and improve the storm water
problems.  The Committee encouraged Rod Anliker to work with Mike
Petkoff to help determine public vs. private responsibility for any
needed infrastructure repair as a recommended first step before any
determination can be considered.   
B.	Change Order to extend the completion dates on the Salt
Shed/Police Garage:  Motion by Polzin, and seconded by Purgatorio to
deny the change order to extend the completion dates.  All ayes,
motion carried 7-0.  There will be a follow-up progress meeting
scheduled for 12/17 at 9:00am to give an update on construction
progress. 
C.	Town Foreman’s Report:  Mike Petkoff updated the committee with
his monthly report.
D.	Town Mechanic’s Report:  Tom Thiele updated the committee with his
monthly report and needed to leave the meeting.
E.	Approval of monthly bills for payment:  Motion by Purgatorio and
seconded by Brien to approve the submitted bills for payment.  All
ayes, motion carried 6-0.  

7.	ADJOURNMENT :
Motion by Brien, and seconded by Militello to adjourn at 2:30p.m. 
All ayes, motion carried 6-0.
