FRIDAY MEMO

To:      Town Board Members

From:  John Olson, Town Administrator

Date:   February 26, 2010

Please take time to read this week’s Friday Memo- -a general recap of the week.  As always, should you like more information, I ask that you call the office, e-mail or stop in.  Thanks for your continued support.

  1. The Inlet Dredge Bid Notice was never published at least 2X (Class 2) in the Delavan Enterprise meeting the publishing requirements of contracts over $15K.  HDR is planning for a re-bid in late March or early April.  The contracted work with Compost Management for the transportation and disposal of the dewatered sediment will also need to be published and formally bid out as well.  Hopefully, the end result will be positive and yield more than one bid that is more competitive and closer to the engineering cost estimates.  Your consideration of the recommended bids should be pushed back to April/May.
  2. Preliminary information is available for the proposed residential development by Shodeen located South of Mound Rd. and East of CTH F.  Rough numbers are 715 lots planned for an estimated 264 buildable acres.  This is subject to change as they have several county planning requirements yet to meet and will need to go through the Town’s approval process as well.  The City of Delavan has plat review authority as this location is within 1.5 miles of the City Limits.  The majority of the area is already zoned R2 and a Conditional Use Permit will eventually be required as it is planned for a Conservation Subdivision.  Their estimated start date is 2012 with a phased construction estimate of 50 homes per year.  Walworth County and the Town will be scheduling a joint “site visit” soon after the Spring Elections.  The Town has approached Shodeen in the past for help with stormwater runoff through this area affecting the Inlet Oaks Subdivision.  Let me know if you need copies of the  information I’ve already received.
  3. No Plan Commission for March (next Tuesday) as there are no scheduled agenda items.
  4. Bid opening for the Mechanic’s Garage project is scheduled for next week’s PW Committee on Wednesday at 1:15.
  5. Again, if you have interest in serving with park fundraising efforts, (Friends of the Park), please let us know.
  6. I am out of the office next Wednesday through Friday attending a state administrator conference in Wausau—enjoy your weekend!!
