Police Department to Follow CDC Guidelines

To the Citizens of the Town of Delavan,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Town of Delavan Police Department will be instituting some procedures to ensure the protection of the public and reduce the possible spread of the virus. Effective immediately officers will follow the CDC guidelines for social contact when dealing with the public, these guidelines include keeping a social distance of a minimum of 6 feet from another person and wearing protective gloves. So please do not be alarmed if you see the officers wearing these gloves or be upset if they maintain a distance while talking with you, this is for everyone’s safety.

The officers will also be handling non-emergency calls whenever possible by phone. This does not mean an officer may still not respond, but if the call can be handled by phone it will be. Officers will still be responding to all emergency and priority calls for service. The level of service the residents of the Town of Delavan have come to expect will remain and residents should not hesitate to call the police department when needed.

The department has taken these precautions to better protect the community from the COVID-19 virus. We also encourage residents to follow the CDC recommendations for reducing exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
